Chasing Love (Plain Daisy Ranch#5) Book Review

Chasing Love by Piper Rayne brings together a delicious mix of tropes romance readers can never resist—childhood sweethearts, second chance, hidden truth, small town life, single parents, and a touch of workplace proximity.
After the abrupt end of her marriage—her husband’s arrest leaving her and her daughter with nowhere to turn—Delaney heads back to Willowbrook, the small town she once called home. It’s the last place she wants to be, but desperate times call for desperate measures. The reason she swore she’d never return? Bennett Owens.
Once high-school sweethearts, Delaney and Bennett’s story seemed destined for a happy new chapter seven years ago—until fate stepped in. Their reunion ended before it could truly begin, leaving Delaney heartbroken and determined never to face Bennett again.
Fast-forward seven years. Both are now single parents trying to rebuild their lives. When Delaney takes a much-needed job at her childhood best friend’s flower shop—who just happens to be Bennett’s cousin—she quickly discovers that Bennett’s office is in the same building. Cue the awkward daily run-ins. As if that weren’t enough, their daughters attend the same school and become inseparable friends.
Though Delaney considers quitting, Bennett convinces her to stay, knowing how much she needs the job. They agree to be civil, but the spark between them never truly faded. The more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to ignore what’s still there. Yet Delaney carries a life-altering secret—one that could turn both their worlds upside down if it ever came to light.
This was my first Piper Rayne book, and it completely exceeded my expectations. I received it as an ARC, and after a year of reviewing so many romance ARCs, I’ll admit I’ve become harder to impress—stories can sometimes start blending together. I went in expecting another ranch-style love story, maybe something predictable. But Chasing Love surprised me in the best way possible.
Not long ago, I binge-watched Ransom Canyon on Netflix and had been craving a book with that same cozy, small-town feel ever since. When I started reading Chasing Love and was hooked within the first few chapters, I knew I’d finally found exactly what I was looking for.
The characters feel grounded, the emotional tension is real, and the setting has that comforting, home-again warmth I adore. The chemistry between Bennett and Delaney builds naturally, and the connection between their daughters adds an extra layer of heart.
The only reason it’s not a full five-star read for me is purely personal preference—I love a slightly longer slow-burn with a bit more banter. I simply didn’t want it to end! That said, it’s an easy recommendation for anyone who loves heartfelt, second-chance small-town romances.
I’ve already added more Piper Rayne titles to my TBR, starting with the earlier books in the Plain Daisy Ranch series. Chasing Love is book five, and book six releases December 9, 2025—I’ll definitely be grabbing it the moment it drops.
Huge thanks to Hambright PR and Piper Rayne for the ARC opportunity and for introducing me to such a charming series.
